FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to bring with me?

a.    Appropriate clothing – some of our venues may be very cold, due to the age of some of them, heating is not present, and of course dependent upon the time of year which the event is held.  It would be preferable if such clothing was woollen/cotton fabrics as manmade fabrics tend to “rustle” upon movement and will seem quite noisy on an investigation.  We also advise you to wear comfortable shoes; you may spend a large amount of the event on your feet.

b.    Torches – At least one per person is advisable together with plenty of spare batteries, as most of our movements around the property during the event will be in the dark.

c.    Video and Camera Equipment – this is not a necessity but please feel free to bring cameras along for your own use.  Some venues may place restrictions on the amount of photography and where pictures can be taken to preserve fabrics and wall coverings in some of the venues.  We think that the more equipment available on the night, the greater the possibility of capturing some paranormal activity!

The Company will provide plenty of hot drinks and refreshments throughout the event to include tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits etc to keep your energies up.

Should I research the property before attending the event?

Obviously this is up to you but we suggest leaving all research until after your attendance at the event.  In sceptical circles researching gives you prior knowledge of the history and stories of the property, and although not intentionally, may result in auto-suggestion on the night.  In our opinion, researching after is much more satisfying as you can then fit together the pieces like a jigsaw and realise things that you didn’t on the night.

What happens if I cannot attend an event?

We would ask that you inform The Haunted Investigation Company as soon as possible so that staff at the event are aware of numbers and are not waiting for you to arrive.  It will also be important doe our Health and Safety procedures to enter the venues with exact names and numbers.

If I become uncomfortable or unwell during the event, what happens?

At all of our events we will have a least one member of staff who is fully first aid trained, who will take you back to the base room until you feel ready to rejoin the group.  Our guests are free to leave the event at any point should they feel the need.

Do you use Ouija Boards?

Certain venues specifically request that we do not use Ouija Boards; however other locations allow us to.  At such locations, the Ouija Board will be available for guests to use, should they wish to do so, and at all events we have a trusted medium who can offer guidance should it be requested.  If our guests feel uncomfortable being involved, this is not a problem and an alternative activity will be available.

What if there is an experiment or technique that I wish to use that has not been offered by the staff on the night?

Please feel free to ask a member of the team, we will always try to accommodate the requests of our guests.  The Haunted Investigation Company Ltd sees each guest as a vital part of the investigation team and value their comments and requests highly.  The night is primarily yours to make the most of your experience.

What time do your events finish?

Due to the variety of our event locations, finish times vary from 2am through to 5am.  The event times are listed with the details for each event.
